Rights and reuse
.auDO encourages reuse of its public reporting, aggregate data and .auDO-created evidence while keeping source code, identity assets and private material under conventional copyright.
The default public licence is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) for eligible material, including commercial reuse permitted by that licence. The position applies to existing and future eligible public material unless a specific item states otherwise.

The licence follows the material class rather than requiring a separate permission decision for each report, data file or evidence artefact.

Source code, brand and identity assets, and private, gated or internal material remain under conventional copyright unless a specific item states otherwise.
Attribution
Keep the source and provenance visible
CC BY 4.0 reuse requires appropriate attribution. Citation and licence attribution are related, but they are not the same thing.

Evidence and third-party material
.auDO only licenses rights it holds
.auDO-created evidence
The CC BY 4.0 grant can cover .auDO-created structure, commentary and compilations in public evidence artefacts where the rights holder owns or controls the relevant copyright or related rights.
Third-party and upstream material
DNS, RDAP, registry, provider, quoted, logo, software and other third-party material remains subject to the relevant third party's rights and terms. .auDO does not purport to relicense it.
Identity and endorsement
Content reuse does not license the .auDO identity
Brand and identity assets are not covered by CC BY 4.0. Existing identity-resource permissions continue to govern editorial reference, co-branding, modification and endorsement-sensitive uses.
Normal reference
Editorial reference, academic and research citation, linking to .auDO publications and accurately identifying .auDO as a source do not require prior approval.
Approval required
Co-branding, sponsorship or partnership representations, commercial promotion using identity assets, modified identity assets, and uses suggesting endorsement require approval.
Private and gated material
Access is not a redistribution licence
Private, gated and internal material remains copyright with all rights reserved unless explicit written permission or a separate licence states otherwise.
Access to a private investigation, console or other gated surface does not by itself grant permission to republish its contents, redistribute domain-level evidence or treat private material as part of the public CC BY 4.0 data surface.
Effective position
Existing and future eligible public material
This rights decision took effect on 25 August 2026. The date records adoption of the policy; it does not restrict the CC BY 4.0 grant to material first published after that date.
